His father, Errol Musk, was a South African engineer, pilot, sailor, and property developer, but his parents divorced in 1980. After his parents’ divorce, Elon Musk chose to live with his father. Musk spent his childhood in South Africa and got his first personal computer at 9. Musk immediately became interested in programming and started learning it himself. At age twelve, Musk sold his first game Blastar to the magazine PC and Office Technology for $500.
